On Saturday, March 15, get ready for an unforgettable night as Third Eye Blind takes the stage! With iconic hits like “Semi-Charmed Life,” “Jumper,” and “How’s It Going to Be,” this San Francisco-based band has earned a devoted fanbase and millions of albums sold. Plus, our second headliner, The Revivalist takes the stage on Saturday, March 22. Experience the Apollo missions like never before with, The Moonwalkers: A Journey with Tom Hanks. Relive the stories through Tom Hanks’ narration, depicting humanity’s never-ending curiosity and perseverance featuring interviews with the NASA Artemis II crew.  In the newly renovated Space Center Theatre, guests will embark on an immersive journey within a 270-degree theater space, where remastered visuals span across three walls and the floor. Are you ready to throw your spring break into hyperdrive? Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial, returns March 9-22, 2025! The festival is included in the cost of admission to Space Center Houston, so festivalgoers will enjoy additional experiences only found at Moon 2 Mars. 

Moon 2 Mars Festival offers a lineup of electrifying concerts! This year, we’re bringing two internationally recognized bands to headline the festival: On Saturday, March 15, Third Eye Blind take the Moon 2 Mars Stage at 7 p.m., set in front of our NASA 905 shuttle carrier aircraft carrying a replica of shuttle replica Independence. Then the following weekend on Saturday, March 22, New Orleans-based 8-piece rock band The Revivalists perform and close out the festival. Moon 2 Mars Photo Op

The iconic Moon 2 Mars display that you know, and love has a bold new look! We’ve replaced our single-use balloon display with a reusable inflatable. We’ll be able to use this sustainable display year-round to support the festival and our community engagement efforts for many years to come!

Kinetic Dance Floor

Bust out some electrifying moves on our Kinetic Dance Floor! The more you move, the more energy you create. The energy generated is instantly converted into electricity (renewable energy) that activates the floor’s LED lights.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Booster

While you’re exploring the festival grounds get an up-close look at one of our permanent exhibits, the Space X Falcon 9 Booster. This reusable two-stage rocket launched in June and December of 2017 as part of two NASA missions. Today, this rocket is a symbol of the future of space travel, reusable technology!

Are you ready to add some “space” to your spring break in the Space City? We got you, explorer.

Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial, is back for year three. Beginning Wednesday, March 13 through Saturday, March 16, the festival celebrates the wonders of space with live music, cutting-edge space tech, immersive experiences, Texas barbecue and more.

The festival ends on Saturday, March 16 with internationally renowned rock band The All-American Rejects hitting the stage at 7:30 p.m. But every day is loaded with musical artists and DJs representing the Lone Start State! Learn more about these artists and their set times at the festival! We’ve compiled this quick mission brief for you and your crew—so sit back, relax and enjoy this lineup of Texas-sized talent.

P.S. Access to the festival is included in general admission to Space Center Houston for these days. Just choose the general admission tickets option and select your day. Wednesday, March 13, 2:30 p.m. | Main Stage | Ancient Cat Society

Houston-based folk band Ancient Cat Society formed in 2010 with founding members Sergio Trevino, Hlaey Lynch and Austin Sepulvado. Ancient Cat Society is a 6-piece supergroup from Houston, Texas – led by Sergio Trevino of Buxton, featuring members Haley Lynch (Dollie Barnes), Austin Sepulvado (Mister Data), Tom Lynch (Vodi), Tank Lisenbe (Tan Kin), and Marshall Graves (Rodeo Art). ACS started off as a folk trio but had grown in size and sound over 2 albums.

Gio Chamba is the wild duo of Gio Alejandro and Coffee Guzman founded in 2014. Their infectious musical blend and raucous performances give them an edge that is hard to find in many bands. Fresh and exciting, yet there’s a celebratory sense of familiarity and warmness in their performances.

2:30 – 4 p.m. | Happy Hour presented by Michelob Ultra

Bidi Bidi Banda, the six-person Selena tribute band, is based out of Austin. Led by Austin native Stephanie Bergara, the Banda has performed for audiences across the United States and to praise from audiences young and old.

Flash Gordon Parks is an ethnomusicologist and DJ from Houston, TX. He has maintained several DJ residencies which range from Blues to Jazz to Soul/Funk to Hip Hop. As a DJ, he strives to educate the audience through carefully thought-out selections. Flash Gordon Parks often collects, documents and lectures on the importance of Houston’s Rich Music History. Flash Gordon Parks is a documentarian of culture. Using photography, design, and music to capture the intricacies of human behavior in society.

You’ve marked your calendar. You’ve got your tickets. You might have even scoped out our menu of space-inspired food. But are you wondering what to do at the festival? Whether it’s your first visit to Space Center Houston or your hundredth, our festival-exclusive experiences offer out-of-this-world fun for everyone.

Our Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial, kicks off its second year Saturday, March 11 and runs through Sunday, March 19, with live music performances March 16 through March 19. The festival celebrates NASA’s Artemis program that will land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, using innovative technologies to build a permanent presence on the lunar surface.

With so much to see and do, we’ve created this handy guide to highlight the festival’s must-see activations—from the Moon to Mars and beyond!

1. Jam out each day beginning March 16 with DJ Blue Heron Yacht Club and First Cavalry Division Band. Enjoy our star-studded lineup March 16-19, including headliner and Grammy Award winner Rick Springfield on Saturday, March 18.

2. Train like an astronaut in our THINK Neurology Future Astronaut Training Grounds, channel your inner explorer as you scale our colossal Martian rock wall and swing a club on the Moon with our lunar golf simulation.

3. Learn all about space in our live presentations about Artemis, the James Webb Space Telescope and the International Space Station.

4. Grab a stellar selfie in front of our new welcome sign or our classic Moon 2 Mars balloon display.

5. Go behind-the-scenes at NASA Johnson Space Center on a Tram Tour and get an up-close look at human space exploration. These will be in high demand–don’t forget to book your spot in advance!

6. Learn about humanity’s next giant leap by exploring The Artemis Exhibit, highlighting the program which will return humans to the Moon for the first time in 50 years.

7. Hear from a NASA Astronaut as they share their mission memories, training experiences, and more with our unique Astronaut Experiences.

8. Put your skills to the test! Collect resources on our lunar landscape using VEX IQ robotic rovers at our Robotics Challenge and pilot a drone in our exciting Drone Zone!

Space Center Houston’s Moon 2 Mars Festival, presented by Wellby Financial, returns for its second year this spring break, Saturday, March 11 through Sunday, March 19, 2023!

This festival celebrates NASA’s Artemis program that will land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon. It’s filled with family-friendly fun, featuring futuristic space tech and live music from renowned artists including headliner and Grammy Award winner Rick Springfield on Saturday, March 18.

This time around, we’ve added even more innovative experiences that bring you and your crew closer than ever to space—including a flavor-fueled menu of festival-exclusive dishes created by our partners at Wolfgang Puck Catering.

In addition to the limited-edition Moon 2 Mars Festival menu, our permanent food offerings at The Food Lab, The Market, and our on-site coffee shop Grounds Control will be open during the festival with options available for a variety of dietary needs.

Are you ready for your #FestivalFoodie moment, Moon 2 Mars edition? Here’s a sneak peek of what you’ll find at the festival.

Our aspirations reach the stars and so do our appetites. Whether you’re a smoked brisket connoisseur or it’s your first time taking on this mission, this traditional Texas dish is sure to be a favorite. Get it in a sandwich, on a baked potato, or loaded onto Supernova Nachos. 

All that glitters is…moon dust? Add deep space vibes to your festival experience with a frozen Moon-garita featuring spirits from Bribón Tequila. Or opt for a frozen drink saluting our favorite planetary neighbor–a Martian Daiquiri made with Dos Maderas rum. Both drinks are served in souvenir cups that festivalgoers can take home. 

If you’re looking for something a little lighter, we’ve got out of this world bites to satisfy your cravings, including Moon Pies and elote—a fav street food among Houstonians. Made with roasted corn, aged Mexican cotija cheese, lime juice, sour cream, Tajín and cilantro, this refreshing dish is a perfect on-the-go snack.
